Work Health and Safety & Insurance

Work Health and Safety responsibility

Work Health and Safety responsibility is not only to an employer’s own employees, but to other people who may be required to work or enter a work site.

Work will not start until the contractor complies with all WGCMA requirements and legal safety obligations:

  • Current insurance
  • OH&S requirements
  • Site-specific Sage Work Method Statements (SWMS).

Insurance Coverage

Current copies of Insurance Certificate of Currency certificates must be provided on request.

Insurance coverage must be maintained by the contractor which:

  • Complies with the provisions of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (Vic).
  • Insures against its liability to compensation whether under legislation or otherwise.
  • Includes a minimum $10 million public liability – this coverage is required and must be maintained for the period of this panel or when undertaking any work for the WGCMA.
