A water for the environment delivery is planned for Carran Carran (Thomson River), this spring to support native fish migration.
Higher spring flows act as an important trigger for species such as Australian grayling, helping juvenile fish move upstream from coastal and estuarine waters into freshwater river habitats. This movement plays an important role in maintaining healthy native fish populations.

Wirn wirndook Yeerung (Macalister River)
Water for the environment delivery planned.
A water for the environment delivery is planned for Wirn wirndook Yeerung (Macalister River), to support migration of native fish species, including Australian grayling, Australian bass and tupong.
Southern Rural Water and the West Gippsland CMA are coordinating a spring fresh to coincide with existing storage releases from Lake Glenmaggie, by combining environmental water with these operational releases, flows of up to 700 ML/d will be maintained between Thursday 22 October and Monday 26 October 2026.
