Responding to an emergency
Work site emergency/accident response:
- using a mobile phone dial 000 to alert emergency services or dial 112 if out of range of mobile reception
- stay calm and speak clearly.
Tell the operator who responds to your emergency call:
- site of emergency
- your name
- number of injured persons and if you are injured
- nature and range of injuries
- whether an ambulance and/or fire truck may be needed
- description of vehicle that will meet the ambulance and/or fire brigade at the emergency meeting point
- action that has been taken so far
- any other relevant information such as weather conditions, access restrictions etc.
- do not cease communication until all necessary information has been passed on and checked
- remain on stand-by for further instructions.
