Everyone is an environmental hero, but some stand out from the crowd…

Every three years our Board recognises the significant contribution of community groups and individuals to catchment health through the Lyrebird Awards.

We were delighted to award five dedicated groups and individuals at the 2024 Lyrebird awards ceremony in November 2024.

The next round of awards will be presented in 2027.

Each recipient was a standout in West Gippsland for their contribution to caring for catchments. Moving from west to east across the catchment, the winners all have demonstrated outstanding commitment and leadership to protect and restore their patch in West Gippsland – often over many years.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of the region, the Gunaikurnai, the Bunurong, the Boonwurrung and the Wurundjeri peoples, their rich culture and spiritual connection to Country.
We also acknowledge the responsibility to care for Country of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples and organisations in Natural Resource Management and pay respects to Elders, past, present and emerging.
